Answers

Where is the HealthFest?

HealthFest takes place in Marshall, Texas, a historic town located in the beautiful Piney Woods of Northeast Texas, forty miles west of Shreveport, Louisiana or a two and half hour drive from Dallas, Texas.

How do I get to the HealthFest?

Friday’s check-in will take place at the newly renovated historic Memorial City Hall building located at 110 E Houston St, Marshall, TX 75670. You will receive a program that contains details, a map and a schedule of Saturday and Sunday’s activities. They will all take place downtown within easy walking distance of each other. If you’re flying in from out of town, the closest airport is Shreveport Regional, which is 30 minutes away. Rental car info is available.

Who hosts the HealthFest?

Get Healthy Marshall was started by former Mayor Ed Smith and Amanda Smith in 2010 and is a grassroots non-profit initiative that hosts the festival to encourage people to get healthy once and for all.

When is the HealthFest?

This year the 2020 festival is Memorial Day Weekend.
Friday, May 22nd afternoon and evening
Saturday, May 23rd all day
Sunday, May 24th all day

How much does it cost?

Ticket information can be found by clicking here

Note: We don’t sell single day passes as we feel that the festival is best experienced as a whole “immersion”. If you can’t attend the entire event, please consider buying a pass and attending as much as you can.

Where is the parking?

Free parking is available in parking lots across the street from the venue, behind Central Perks Cafe, beside the Marshall Visual Arts Center, beside the Marshall Court House and also in individual parking spaces around the downtown.

Please be respectful of the businesses and the neighborhood. Pay attention to city signage and do not block driveways. Whenever possible, please carpool.

Are pets allowed at the festival?

Sorry, no pets are allowed in the festival venues.

Will the festival be canceled due to weather?

HealthFest 2020 will go on rain or shine!

I’m from the media. Who should I speak to?

Please email gethealthymarshall@gmail.com or call our office at (903) 935-5232.

Can I volunteer at the festival?

Yes, of course! HealthFest volunteers are responsible for working 2 different 4 hour shifts for a total of 8 hours. There are a limited number of volunteer spots and they are really intended to help people who cannot afford to pay to attend the event to have the opportunity to benefit from it. Often retired people and students. We offer a discounted registration rate for volunteers. Please sign up here.

Can I get text alerts for when the speakers are starting?

Absolutely, thanks to support from Mobile Matters, we are offering text alerts for the event including updates on speaker times throughout the day. To sign up, simply text NYNY to 55678. Message and data rates apply. Text STOP to end, or HELP for help.

Is the HealthFest family friendly?

Of course! Children under 18 may attend free with a paying parent. Please keep in mind, children should be well behaved and not distract from the speakers.

How can I become a speaker?

We choose most of our speakers a year in advance or more. Speakers are selected on the basis of their reputation in the medical or plant-based world and their area of expertise. We finely balance medical experts, with researchers, athletes, fitness authorities, celebrity chefs, well known authors and the occasional rising star.

If you are still interested in becoming a speaker at the HealthFest, please send an email to Crystal@GetHealthyMarshall.com with information about yourself, and a list of topics from which you can make two separate presentations. Each presentation should not exceed one hour.
